Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading passenger car manufacturer, has announced a significant boost to its manufacturing capabilities. The company inaugurated a new assembly line at its Manesar facility in Haryana, increasing the plant’s annual production capacity by 1 lakh units.
Reaching New Production Heights
This expansion brings the Manesar plant’s total production capacity to a staggering 9 lakh units per year. The new assembly line integrates seamlessly with the existing Plant-A, one of three manufacturing units within the Manesar complex. Notably, the Manesar facility has played a pivotal role in Maruti Suzuki’s impressive production journey, contributing over 95 lakh units to the company’s remarkable 3 crore production milestone.
Aligned with Long-Term Vision
Commenting on the development, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, highlighted the company’s ambitious plans. “We aim to nearly double our capacity to 4 million vehicles per annum over the next 7-8 years,” he stated. “This capacity addition of 1 lakh vehicles per year is a step towards this goal. It will help us serve our customers faster and enhance our overall capability to manufacture up to 23.5 lakh units per annum.”
Catering to Growing Demand
The expansion reflects Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to meeting the ever-growing demand for its popular car models. The Manesar plant currently manufactures some of the company’s best-selling vehicles, including the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Wagon R, Dzire, S-Presso, Ciaz, and Celerio. With the increased production capacity, Maruti Suzuki is well-positioned to cater to the needs of a wider customer base and further solidify its market leadership in the Indian automobile industry.
