Tata Technologies, a leading engineering and product development digital services company, has signed a five-year Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Telangana government to modernise 65 government-owned Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state at a total project cost of Rs 2,324 crore . The collaboration will enable the government to equip the ITIs with the latest Industry 4.0 technologies, industry-ready courseware and trainers. The upgraded ITIs will serve as skill development centres that will enhance the technical proficiency and employability of students as well as meet the industry demand for a skilled workforce.
As part of the project, nine new long-term and 23 short-term courses will be introduced in the ITIs, covering various domains such as automotive, aerospace, defence, construction, manufacturing and design. The project will also involve the construction of new workshops, installation of machines and equipment, and appointment of tutors to provide training to the youth. Tata Technologies will also offer employment opportunities to the graduates through a special placement cell.
The project is expected to benefit around 9,000 candidates who will get admission every year starting from the 2024–25 academic year. Additionally, another one lakh youths will undergo short-term training. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said that the project is aimed at bridging the gap between the curriculum offered in the institutions and the requirement for skilled manpower for industries. He added that the government has accorded top priority to turning Hyderabad into a skill development hub and setting up a ‘skill university’ for degree and engineering students in the state.
