Yamaha RX100 New Avatar Set to Return in India
February 20, 2024 | by indiatoday360.com

The Yamaha RX100 is one of the most iconic motorcycles in India, known for its sleek design, powerful performance and distinctive sound. The bike was launched in 1985 and discontinued in 1996, but it still has a loyal fan base and a cult status among enthusiasts. However, the good news is that Yamaha is reportedly planning to bring back the RX100 in a new avatar, with a bigger engine and modern features.
According to various reports, the new Yamaha RX100 will have a 225.9 cc four-stroke engine that will produce 20.1 bhp of power and 19.93 Nm of torque. The bike will also comply with the BS6 Phase 2 emission norms that will come into effect from April 2024. The new RX100 will retain some of the design elements of the original bike, such as the round headlamp, the fuel tank shape and the dual shock absorbers at the rear. However, it will also have some updates, such as disc brakes, LED lights and digital instrument cluster.
The new Yamaha RX100 is expected to be priced between Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), which will make it a premium offering in the segment. The bike will compete with other retro-styled motorcycles, such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350, the Honda CB350 and the Jawa 42. The new RX100 will also appeal to those who want a modern yet nostalgic ride that reminds them of the glory days of the two-stroke era.
Yamaha has not officially confirmed anything about the new RX100 yet, but it is likely that the bike will be launched in India by the end of 2024 or early 2025. The new RX100 will be a tribute to the legendary motorcycle that ruled the Indian roads for over a decade and still continues to enchant hearts.
